Jackson, Ohio Speed Traps
Interstate 77 near Mile Marker 110
Ohio State Highway Patrol officers are regularly seen in the median crossover between exits 111 and 109 on I-77. There are usually two of them, one pointed each direction; sometimes there is only one. Enforcement is not more likely at a particular day of the month or time of day. The speed limit is 55 mi/hr. Typical traffic flows at 65 mi/hr. The patrol does not seem interested in stopping most vehicles going speeds up to 80 mi/hr, but have been seen stopping vehicles displaying erratic behaviour (perhaps looking for inebriated drivers). Recommendation is to abide by posted 55 mi/hr speed immediately after passing exit 109. After exit 111, which is right after the speed trap, the speed limit is raised to 65 mi/hr; this was temporarily lower during construction, but the construction speed limit was lifted in late 2003.
SR 32 East and West
There are patrol cars on both sides of 32 sitting in wait. A lot of times they position themselves at the bottom of a hill. Even if you have cruise on, your car still speeds up a little. That’s when they get you (they got me twice). I will say that they do give you about 5 miles over the 60 mph speed limit before they come after you, but watch the hills.
US35 South of Jackson
There is a stretch of 60mph that turns to 65mph a mile down the road.Guess where they sit. 73 in this 60 will cost you $91.00. Saturday afternoon 4:00 going with the flow of traffic but I was driving the luxury rental car to go on vacation because my car was in the shop after a hit and run.Had I been driving a 70’s chevy pickup with the fenders flapping in the breeze I probably wouldn’t be typing this.
Rt. 35, Jackson vicinity
4-lane limited access highway in VERY rural area with a 55 mph limit. Vehicles are sighted by air, then the patrolman simply flags the vehicle over and tickets. Always. Traffic is so light I have witnessed the patrolman stand in the middle of the road to flag vehicles over.
