US 42 North & South Edge, SR 41 North & South Edge
Barney sits at all four state route entry points of town. Instead of a "Reduced Speed Ahead" sign, their’s says "Reduced Speed" allowing them to grab unsuspecting motorists. They recently gave a $140 ticket for a 42 in a 35. They hide in alleys between houses. They also park at a wood chip factory hidden behind stacks of wood pallets. They may have taught Mississippi Sheriffs tricks.
basically the whole town (3 red light town)
town is dumping/proving gound for police acadamy 10 miles away,only 2 full time cops ,(rest 14 at one time last year trainees )license plate light most common probable cause pullover: speed #2.Beware they will follow you up to a couple of miles outside of town before nailing you
US 42 on the southern edge of town
U.S. 42 on the south side of South Charleston for about 100 feet and re-enters for 500 feet. The speed limit through the 500 foot section is 50MPH (No Warning Signs). The radar unit is set up to catch motorist who believe they have left town and are speeding up to 55MPH.
