Edmond, Oklahoma Speed Traps
Interstate I-35 near Exit Number 141
Edmond City Police running radar on Interstate 35, just inside city limits.
9th Street
9th Street has been a known speed trap for quite a while. I live on this street and the cops frequently hide in the alley behind my house. There are 2 schools on this street and the high rate of speed that many motorists travel is well above the safety level for our children. I applaud the Edmond Police Office for trying to keep our streets safe for our children.
Interstate 35 near 33rd Street
Edmond police like to camp out on the entire length of I-35, from 33rd street at the south end all the way to Waterloo. There are always 2-3 cars there on both sides of the road, usually with someone pulled over.
Stretch of Kelly between Danforth & Edmond Road.
Watch out for the stretch of Kelly between Danforth and Edmond Road! I live in the area, and the police routinely set up speed traps in the parking lot of the Apartment complex about halfway between Danforth & Edmond Road on the west side of Kelley. They also hide on a dirt road that leads into a woody area a few hundred yards south of the complex (also on the west side of the road). The road cants at a funny angle to Kelley, so it makes them very hard to spot unless you’re within a hundred feet or so. Final one: close to Danforth (still on Kelly) there is a bank. I’ve spotted speed traps in the parking lot of the bank. They partially shield themselves behind a sign there.
