Mustang, Oklahoma Speed Traps
Czech Hall Road near State Highway 152
Although this is next to a residential area, and no one should speed through here, the speed limit is 35 coupled with a slightly hilly terrain. It is very easy to be going 35, hit a downward hill and find yourself pushing 40-45 in a matter of seconds. And the Mustang police are usually hiding on the side of the road, next to a convenience store, etc. They are usually no-tollerance and will ticket you for 5mph over the speed limit. From SW 59th all the way down to SW 89th is patrolled heavily.
Mustang Road near 59th Street
Within a 1/4 mile, the speed drops from 55 mph, to 45 mph, to 35 mph.
New Highway 4 Bridge
Travelling from Tuttle into Mustang. When the speed limit changes from 60MPH to 45MPH they wait on the bottom of the hill on a small side street there or in a business’ parking lot. It’s difficult not to speed at that point since you have 3 miles to go, and nothing is around you but grass! No need to slow down yet you do 60 in coming back into Tuttle.
Highway 152, SW 89th street and SW 59th street, throughout entire town
Officers sit at the edges of town on the main roads (ones I listed) and hide in ditches, behind parked cars, trees, oil field gates, anything. Another favorite is driving outside their jurisdiction, turning around, speeding back in well over the speed limit and meeting oncoming traffic with the radar at full blast. Not to be insulting, but the officers in Mustang are some of the most insulting, agressive, and unforgiving out there. The tickets have also increased, in conjunction with the opening of a brand new police dept. building. Go figure…
