Renforth Drive, Etobicoke, Ontario

Etobicoke, OntarioSep 29, 20110 Comments

Every week, if not every other day, there is a speed trap located at Centennial Park, Renforth Drive. The officer is hidden either behind a tree on the sidewalk or in a patrol car on the side of the church, next to Centennial Square (It’s almost on the same property as Centennial Park).
The speed limit is 40 kilometers. That is because, the police/municipal government say there are schools in the area. While there are schools in the area, the 40 k limit can be changed while school is out during the summer, but they won’t do this because this area is a what we call a “cash cow”. It is four lanes and it is very difficult to stay at 40 k when the road is not busy, school is out and the park is nearly empty. In some parts of the city, in school areas, the speed limit has been adjusted when school is out or example speed is changed to 50 or 60 kilometers after hours. I brought this to the attention of my councilor in my area and he shrugged it off by saying that is what the residents want (hogwash!).

East bound Lake Shore, East 0f Park Lawn / Palace Pier Court

As you proceed east on The Lake Shore, the lane narrows to one lane past Palace Pier Court. The road sweeps to the right. The police car is hidden in the entrance to the parking lot out of sight.

Westbound Rathburn Rd between West mall and Renforth

Etobicoke, OntarioFeb 21, 20110 Comments

Speed limit is 40km/h as you pass West Mall traffic lights going west on Rathburn. You go downhill from 427 overpass and you can hit 60-70km/hr in no time. Police are hiding with the radar at the church drive on your right. REALLY hard to spot them before it’s too late.

St. Phillips Road just north of Dixon Road

Etobicoke, OntarioSep 23, 20100 Comments

Driving southbound on St. Phillips Sq Road just after you go over the bridge the road curves to the right. As you come around that curve they are bruied in the trimmed bushes of a private driveway just across from the church, with laser or handheld. That area believe it or not is 40 KMH, and you wouldn’t know it the way everyone behaves on that short stretch. I can tell you the locals around that area are complaining about the speeds and having a hard time getting out onto the road from their driveways
