Going S on 101 entering RockawY

Rockaway Beach, OregonMay 21, 20150 Comments

I use my GPS to catch speed changes in case I miss a sign. My wife spotted the sign change and warned me just as I saw the radar car. He hit me for 40 in a 30 but then said I didn’t stop for a pedestrian and hit me for $260 instead of the $110 speed ticket.
With his car behind me I was watching my driving carefully and we didn’t see anyone trying to cross.

Police cruiser picks off out of state cars by tailing them, then pulls them over for supposed speeding in 30mph zone. Very foggy weather there, hard to see the speed reduction signs.

Currently a construction zone near there with rough roads, but officer says you are going 48 on 30mph zone, and explains you to submit plea of no contest to the municipal court.

Traffic entering Rockaway Beach on S.R.101 N/B are targeted by the city police, especially out of state vehicles. Tickets are written for the exact speed ie: 42/30 no breaks high bail,
city claims state law precludes Extenuating Circumstances Plea. Cash cow for city, minimal signage of speed limit drop,
no apparent need for 30 mph limit.

Approaching town, the speed limit drops from 55mph to 45mph. This is strictly enforced. 5m over the limit is a $119.00 fine. No questions, no warning, just payup.
