Interstate 79 near Mars/Cranberry exit

Cranberry, PennsylvaniaApr 23, 20041 Comments

When traveling South of I-79, just after the Cranberry/Rte 19 exit, the road will wrap to the left and begin going downhill. You will see a big grassy area in the center with a lot of trees. A Statie will often sit there and you usually can’t see him until you’re he has already "gunned" you. The last posted speed limit sign is 65 mph, but, that is a few miles back, so, who know what the actual enforcable speed limit is. I always slow to 55 mph there, just to be safe. 9 times out of 10, there is nobody there, but, better safe than sorry. Your best chance of seeing him is on weekdays between 4:30-6:00 p.m. I’ve never actually seen him going after anyone, but, it’s advised to still watch your speed through there.

This is a well-known trap that has gotten motorists for years. Next time you drive by there check out the gravel driveway that they put in place for the sole purpose of police cars.
