Hwy 93, coming from Easley

Liberty, South CarolinaMar 28, 20030 Comments

On hwy 93 driving from Easley to Liberty, as you get to the Liberty City line, the speed drops from 55 to 35. The first 35mph sign is at the city line at the top of a hill. There is a second 35mph sign about 1/4 mile further down next to the body shop. Liberty’s finest sit in the Church parking lot, the body shop parking lot, or on the edge of the road and run instant-on radar. They do a great job of popping personal vehicles speeding, but they completely ignore the constant gravel loaded dump trucks that barrel through at 55-60mph during the day! If you top the hill at the first 35mph sign and you’re doing 5mph over or better, you’re getting a ticket. There is a rock quarry nearby and the dump trucks get complete amnesty. Someone is going to get killed!

Hwy 178, between Hwy 123 and Hwy 93

Liberty, South CarolinaMar 28, 20030 Comments

The section of Hwy 178 is patrolled constantly and the speed limit is 35mph. There are a couple of curves in the road and a couple of hills that give cops perfect hiding spots. The comfortable safe speed seems to be closer to 45mph, but you will get pulled over for even going a couple of mph over 35mph. This section of road is mostly commercial and residential and is policed by city, county, and occasionally even state patrols. If you are coming from Anderson or exiting off of Hwy 123, beware!
