11000 Providence Rd. West
Going west on Providence Rd. from the intersection at Courthouse Rd. the speed limit is 25 mph.
From the intersection going west is dense housing for a half mile with two 25 mph speed limit signs in that area. Then the road is in open and unpopulated with no speed limit signs for about a half mile leading you to think the speed limit is lifted and now unnecessary. You ascend a grade and at the top of the hill is a small sign signifying an elementary school (with no speed limit warning). Especially on weekends you let down your guard about the school. On the other side of the hill in front of the school is usually a Chesterfield County Squad car on the left scanning you with radar as you top the hill. You will normally be going 35 to 40 mph. On the weekends pickings are easy for strangers. All homeowners in the area are aware of the speed trap. It cost me $212 and I was definitely in no hurry – just to help out a friend that Saturday.
