I live on the 4700 block of Patterson Ave, a four-lane inter-city road. About once a week, the Richmond City Police park on 4800 Patterson Ave, on the North side of the street, tucked in with the parked cars. Drivers don’t see the police car or motorcycle until after they pass it. The speed limit is 35 mph, but traffic usually flows at about 45 mph. Because it is about a mile between the traffic lights at Patterson and Willow Lawn Drive and Patterson and Westmorland, it is easy for drivers to find themselves well over the speed limit.
