City Police and young drivers

City Police harass young drivers. I grew up here and raised three boys here. A lot of good officers, but always a few who scored too low to be a Mall cop so they patrol our city streets. The worst for blowing stop signs, speeding and no turn signals, yet will stop a young driver and accuse them of the same stuff. Sons have been stopped at night and accused of drinking with no cause. Youngest was stopped in a snow storm for having his license plate covered with snow,officer would not let him walk to the back of the patrol car to look at theirs. Young drivers need to know their rights and stand up for themselves. DO NOT be disrespectful of the police but watch out for yourselves.

I grew up just outside Traverse City. Every time I entered the city limits a city cop would pull me over for some silly thing. I started buying all the cheap cars I could because if I switched cars it usually took them about two weeks to get on my tail again. It was not a speed trap. It was down-right harassment.

My son has been harassed and down right threatened by a Traverse City City Police officer. " after a chase into the woods my teenager was told "I could kill you right here, Who are they going to beleive, Your dead and you threatened my life" this was an officer with a sister in the dept. and a retired father from which I knew when I was young and he was a good cop (the father that is). My son was a small kid. I guess this young cop was power happy, the power of the badge!
