East Pecos Road near South Higley Road
During the morning "rush hour" at least two motorcycle officers work this stretch of Pecos Road between S. Higley Road and Val Vista. Laser is the enforcement tool of choice. Speed limit is 45, but it’s a three-lane, freshly paved (westbound) street and those accelerating from Higley towards Val Vista usually exceed that by five to fifteen miles per hour. Motor officers usually wait on the north side of the road in a private driveway approximately 1/4 mile west of Higley. They’ve previously used radar at this site, but have recently upgraded to laser units. During a one hour period at least six cars (per motor unit) were cited and the speed trap continues for three to four hours (early am through approximately ten am).
