Eglin Parkway
Heading north to Eglin Air Force Base on Eglin Parkway through Shalimar – you drive the Cinco Bayou bridge where speed limit is 45 mph – as soon as you come off the bridge you are in Shalimar and speed decreases to 35 – you will always get a ticket – officer sits at the end of the bridge waiting for traffic coming off the bridge – which people always are speeding due to down slope of bridge.

Yes indeedy, every word is true in that comment. I have lived in the Shalimar-Fort Walton area for thirty odd years. The officers come and go, but that "hiding" place has been there as long as I have, and is still used by the small Shalimar police force. The locals know, but the tourists are in for a suprise.
Just to keep the truth alive and well. First the speed limit is 40mph not 45mph before Shalimar and in Shalimar. As you leave Shalimar then the speed goes up to 45mph. Second the speed limit before Cinco Bayou bridge is 35mph. The bridge just before the Town of Shalimar is called the "Shalimar Bridge" Most of the time cops give tickets to drivers doing 15 mph over the speed limit. Thats 55mph in town were mothers are walking there kids and pets. It is strange how people can live in the area for over thirty years and not know the speed limits!!
