I-57/I-70 While heading North on I-57 (from Memphis) or East on I-70 (from St.Louis) the two interstates meet. (3 miles outside of Effingham IL) Your first Effingham Exit is a lazy turn to the right. (Exit 162) That shoots you right on Fayette Ave. The speed drops down to 40 then 35. People don’t realize this till it’s to late. Fayette is a 4 lane road and it’s tuff to drop that much speed so quickly. Expecially since Fayette looks like an interstate in it’s own right. Beware! The Effingham City police, Effingham County police and Illinois State Police frequent the Sacared Heart Church Parking lot. It’s a large parking lot. They sit there and chat and run radar. Constently. Take the second or third Effingham Exit.
