Fite Rd & Piper Rd

Pearland, TexasMay 31, 20093 Comments

Two issues with this intersection…First, usually a motorcycle cop will sit here and watch for speeders douring the afternoon schhol zone, and EVERY time I go through here, I see him catch somebody. Second, if you’re ever driving through here at night, and think you can get away with rolling through the stop sign, you’ll get a surprise visit from an officer sitting in the school parking lot with his lights dimmed.

Comments:
This is NOT a speed trap! Piper Rd. is a residential street with many children playing in the area. Many speeders use it in order to avoid the traffic lights on Manvel Rd. The speed limit on Piper Rd. is 20 mph, but speeders in a hurry to go to the subdivision on Fite Rd. will cut down Piper rather than use Manvel Rd. Before the installation of speed humps on Piper, speeders were clocked at 40 & 50 mph---- Way too fast for a residential street.

Yes this is a speed trap. I got a ticket at 1 minute before the end of school zone....there was no one at the school so it is not true that the road is always crowded with kiddies. I say it's a trap though because there are cars that deliberately go way under the speed limit and when you pass them.bang! I saw such a car many times and this time it got me. It sounds crazy I know, but it is true. As a citizen, you have the right to watch on a public sidewalk, I suggest that you do. Pearland PD is a corrupt little unit and we know that very soon law suits follow and then citizens will demand professional officers because the types they have now will raise your taxes from losing suits. Just look what happen in Bellaire over time. Lastly, I would suggest that PPD deploy to the subdivisions and catch the people robbing folks. It's very odd to have police around crime targets and still not stop the crime. Why/

Definitely not a speed trap. I would suggest that most traffic enforcement in this city is due to citizen complaints anyway. I HAVE watched and have witnessed car after car running the stop signs in this area. I would be interested in your proof of how the PD is corrupt and what statistics you have in reference to robberies though. I just finished reading an article of how they caught burglars in 4 separate residential burglaries in 2 days. Seems like they are doing a pretty good job.
