Just, wow. I received a speeding ticket for going 43 in a 30, that was a 40 literally ten yards beforehand. The officer was waiting right there just as the speed limit changed for no reason (there was no school or construction or anything). Additionally, I was fined for having a Saints license plate holder that in no way obstructed anyone’s view of the plate, and also for only providing proof of registration electronically. The officer actually told me he “should have the car towed because I have Florida plates but I also maintain an additional address in Louisiana and could have switched my plate.” WHAT?! I will neither drove through, nor spend a single penny in this horrible place ever again.

Total Fine $620.00

I have travelled thru Golden Meadow on business from time to time since 1988, it has always been a Speed Trap. These thieves hiding behind a badge in the past have stopped my co-workers for as little as driving one (1) mile an hour over the 15 mile speed zone AND for driving 13 miles per hour, two (2) miles per hour beneath the posted speed. Reason for the ticket was given as driving to slow thus impeding traffic flow thus creating hazardous traffic conditions. SERIOUSLY!! They also love to stop out of state drivers, especially Oil and Gas workers from Texas and Mississippi, almost a guaranteed stop. BEWARE!! Drive the EXACT posted speed limit, no faster nor slower!

Ok let's clear the air on this speed trap town I called GM. I know what I'm talking about so I can explain it in the best way possible. Traveling on Hwy. 3235 it's best to travel between 50-55 mph. 57+ gets a ticket always. If you're traveling on Hwy. 1 travel between 30-38 mph and anything 40+ gets a ticket always. All neighborhood streets are 15 mph and don't go over 20 mph because they are more expensive overall. Make sure all your lights are working and that includes your boat trailers! And by law stay in the right lane always unless you wanna turn left. And whatever you do, if the officer has someone stopped on the shoulder you move over into the other lane. This will keep you citation free in GM. Any questions?

FYI. All radars as well as speedometer have a plus are minus of 3 miles an hour. If these officers have had any proper training in speed enforcement they would know that. Speedometers aren't calibrated exactly to the number so take it to court. And now anyone reading this knows. As long as the judge isn't corrupt, these tickets can be beat! As a police officer for over 17 years, I know what damage speed traps can do to a cities businesses.
