Hale Street, just past intersection with Lavalley Lane

Newburyport, MassachusettsMar 21, 20102 Comments

I drive pass this locale every Thursday night, and this one is a consistent customer in the warm weather.

This is right on the West Newbury/Newburyport town line. Going eastbound there’s a cop that sits right in the brush before the I-95 overpass, just past a "Speed Limit 30" sign that gets mostly covered over in foliage in the warmer months. He’s only out there at commute times (5-7pm).

Comments:
This should be a speed trap. Everyone in Newburyport comes down Hale Street headed toward West Newbury and bombs right through the stop sign at the bottom of Turkey Hill (the next street after LaValley turn off). That corner is a two way stop for a four way street. It is a blind spot for people coming from West Newbury and I was almost hit at that very spot by a cadillac going thru the stop sign going straight. I was in a small car coming around the corner and if the car sitting at the Turkey Hill stop sign had not blown their horn at the cadillac I would have been hit. People need to get tickets for speeding there and for going through that stop sign. No one is obeying the signs and someone is going to get hurt really badly. The police only give warnings, if they would actually give tickets for running a stop sign that corner would be safer.

Sometimes they also sit by the cable company. Don't want to get stopped try slowing down to 30 mph. It's a very narrow road with children.
