Highland Park Way near W. Marginal Way

Seattle, WashingtonOct 26, 20071 Comments

This is a steep, long curving hill. Typically traffic will flow smoothly at about 50mph. The posted limit is 30mph. An officer in an unmarked Dodge Charger will camp midway up the hill with the laser. Three or four other officers will cycle thru a driveway further down the hill, catching people ID’d by the guy in the Charger.

Just an update: I got a ticket going down the hill mid-morning on a Friday in November 2009. The officer was in a Seattle Police Dept cruiser, pulled off in a driveway on the Uphill side of the street, about half way up the hill. I had just moved to the area and hadn't paid attention to the speed limit, but assumed it was 35 because it was a four-lane road. I found out the hard way that I was wrong when the officer whipped across four lanes of traffic and flipped his lights on behind me. I pulled into the parking lot of a business near the bottom of the hill, but before the light. He said I was going 42 in a 30, and I probably was. I hadn't had a ticket in over 25 years, and now I've had one a year for the past three years---grrr!
