Highway 52 N leaving town

Society Hill, South CarolinaMay 12, 20030 Comments

I was returning from a trip to Santee Cooper lake> A friend and his wife were following me. As we left town, Highway 52 curved and started down a long hill. As soon as I rounded the curve and started down the hill, my radar detector went off and I saw the Police car with the blue lights already on. The officer was facing me as I came around the curve> She (female officer)shot out and almost hit my friend who was following me, forcing him off the road. He pulled over thinking she was after him. She passed him and pulled me. She came to up to me in my vehicle and said "Hon I got you going 49 in a 35 zone"> My response was that I did not think I was going that fast. I know I wasn’t because when my radar detector went off I looked at my speedometer> I was going about 38mph. When she had written the ticket and came back to my vehicle, she said "hon as I said I got you going 49 in a 35. The fine for 49 in a 35 is 150.00." She wrote it on the bottom of the ticket and highlited it with a highliter pen. She also said "there is a number on the bottom of the ticket> Call it if you don’t want it to appear on your driving record. A speed trap pure and simple. My friend was travelling right behind me and said there was no way we were going 49 mph. My advice to anyone is to steer clear of this cespool of a town and especially spend any money there.
