Highway 58 through town

Oakridge, OregonAug 05, 20032 Comments

HWY 58 goes from a 55 Mph to a 35 Mph heading into Oakridge from Eugene. The HWY becomes a road with 2 lanes in each direction with a turning lane. The local police like to park on many of the side streets and in the parking lots of businesses to watch for speeders. As you head through town toward Willamette Pass the road goes into a 45 Mph and then into a 55 Mph. This is where you will get trapped by the police. As you speed up through this section of town they are quick to radar you. Oakridge is a small town but it is not uncommon to see 2 or 3 police officers stopping drivers on this 4-mile stretch of road at the same time. It is common for people to get stopped for going only a few miles over the speed limit.

Comments:
How is this a speed trap when it is very clearly marked? I never realized what whiners law breakers are, it's not my fault it's everyone else's fault!!

Oakridge is definitely a speedtrap. Too many have been ticketed for less than 5 miles over and they are fully aware of that town's reputation. State Police wouldn't do that.
