School zones are very important; however,… when leaving Homestead High School’s south parking lot during the A.M. rush, be very cautious if driving south on Homestead Road. Follow the 25 M.P.H. school zone for the next 1/2 mile! The sign for the school zone exists about 200 yards north of this parking lot exit(in front of the High School). You will never see any posted speed limit-school zone sign for the southbound traffic if you leave from this south lot. The police car sits on the shoulder of the northbound lane in front of the residential area. (He is usually hidden by oncoming traffic.) Do not speed up after passing the police car, the school zone does not end for another 2/10 of a mile. I imagine it is a good money-maker. My ticket was well over $100.00. I saw at least five cars last school year getting warnings or tickets.
