Hwy 106 about 2 miles from I-65

At 4AM came through Georgiana in order to get to I-65. Held to strictly enforced construction zone 45 MPH. Went through populated portion of Georgiana at 35MPH. Did not observe change but roadway in forested area is 4-lane, divided highway. Stopped less than 1 mile from I-65 for doing 51 in what the officer said was a 35MPH all the way to and through the Interstate. Clearly a trap. Also look at the traffic fine structure for Alabama. Abusive because it encourages this sort of behavior by law enforcement. It’s not about safety. If it were, how about putting up better signage, billboard, or other legitimate traffic controls? Bad use of police and just a bad place.

Comments:
Very similar situation on Hwy 106 less than a mile off I-65. I saw the 55 mph sign, never saw the 45 mph sign immediately after. I saw the patrol car oncoming, luckily as I approached the 35 mph sign. Clocked at 58 in a 45, and I actually pulled over right next to another patrol car timing cars that were coming over a hill to a reduced speed sign. Not that I have had many traffic tickets, but probably the first that I actually thought I was driving the posted limit. It was also the most expensive ticket I've ever paid $199. And to add insult to injury a $7.96 convenience fee for paying by credit card. I now understand the true meaning of Highway Robbery.
