Hwy 16 on the Kerrville side

Fredericksburg, TexasApr 27, 20102 Comments

The posted speed limit is 55 mph and does not increase to 70 mph until past the entrance to Lady Bird Park. Both state and local police are quick to ticket motorists who succumb to the temptation to hit 70 mph because the city of Fredericksburg is behind them and the view is of open countryside. This portion of Hwy 16 is ticketed in Both directions. Motorists coming from Kerrville need to be aware of the speed limit change to 55 mph from 70 mph.

Comments:
Again: people, mostly tourists, not paying attention. The speed limit signs are not "hidden". Plainly visible all along the outskirts of Fredericksburg. Whining about "speed traps" when you get caught 50 yards past a speed limit sign is not exactly a "trap". You WERE warned. I live within a mile of Highway 16, and travel from Fredericksburg to Kerrville quite often. The, (very few), cars I see stopped and getting a ticket are usually caught just the other side of a speed limit sign, and nearly all are registered either out-of-state or outside of Gillespie County. I thought it was a requirement of getting a drivers license that you could A) Read a sign, and B) have reasonable visual acuity to be on the road.
