HWY 231 just short of AL Line

Cottondale, FloridaSep 13, 20101 Comments

In this very flat, 4 lane highway, the speed drops from 65 to 35. I dropped my speed to 35-40 all the way through town. Towards the end of town there are signs indicating the new speed limit of 55 then an increase back to 65. When I saw the 55 mph sign, I started increasing my speed. The officer pulled me over just after the 55 mph sign and gave me a $281 ticket. I politely told the officer that I was out of the 35 mph zone and entering 55 and he said that I was still in the 35 zone when he clocked me even though the 55 mph sign was visible. RIDICULOUS! I don’t mind getting a ticket when I deserve it, but this is nothing but a speed trap!

Comments:
I had the same thing happen to me this weekend. Within 2 blocks the speed limit changed from 55, 45, 35, 45 and to 65 in less than a mile, I have never ever seen this, therefore didn't expect it. I couldn't have seen much due to the huge amount of signs begging you to buy produce and bonsai trees. There were so many signs, I started to focus on the road with the heavy traffic, having no idea the speed limit would change over and over again in such a short distance. The officer stopped me under the 65 MPH sign when I question him he was so arrogant and demeaning. He told me he clocked me under the 35 zone, I said no way. He wrote change speed limits so quickly and hide them under all the aggressive marketing signs? I turned around to see where the change in speed limits were posted and had to really focus. I think something should be done about this because it's really unfair. If anyone else has any ideas please let me know.
