Hwy. 6, eastbound into edge of town

Robeline, LouisianaDec 05, 20122 Comments

As you enter town on Hwy. 6 from the west, there is short notice of the speed limit drop from 55 to 45, and you are going downhill. Robeline PD will sit at the bottom hill itching to hit you for what you are doing immediately as you hit the 45mph zone.

Comments:
This is another long-running notorious one in Louisiana. The community sits on the main access route to and from Toledo Bend. There is a dangerous crook in the street in the middle of town, and there used to be a caution light, but it was taken out. It is justifiable to slow down in the middle of the community, but the quick-changing speed limits on the edge of town are not. Recently the lowered speed limit was extended quite a ways out into the rural area, giving the small police department (a chief and one officer I believe) more areas to patrol (and find victims). There were small signs at one time at least, stating where city jurisdiction begins. In Louisiana that is a dead give-away that it is a speed trap. Unlike most towns with ancient cruisers, this one has the latest model expensive SUV's, with nifty and artistic vehicle wraps. That should tell you they have money to burn, and we all know where it is coming from...you.

Beware of the chief of police in this town. He is known to make up reasons to stop you. Half the time his radar dont work. He brags about all the people he has written tickets to and arrested on trumped up charges. Do Not let him search your vehicle for any reason. If he wants inside he needs a search warrant. He cant get one. Appeal the ticket to distric court.
