TROOPER SAID I WAS GOING 79 IN A 65, I HAD THE CRUSE ON AT 70 PASSED A SEMI GOING UP A HILL, HE SAID HE GOT ME AS HE WAS TRAVELING NORTH BOUND AS I PASSED THE SEMI, ONLY VEHICLES ON THE HIGHWAY WERE ME AND THE SEMI, THREE TIMES HE TOLD ME WHAT A NICE VEHICLE MY BUICK WAS AND WHERE WAS I GOING IN MY OUT OF STATE PLATES. TOTALLY WRONG I DO NOT BELIEVE I WAS GOING OVER 72. I HAVE RECEIVED THREE LETTERS FROM VARIOUS ATTORNEY’S WANTING TO HELP WITH MY TICKET. TOTAL OUT OF STATE SCAM IN MY OPINION, ESPECIALLY AFTER COMING HOME AND FINDING THIS WEB SITE, WISH I HAD SEEN IT BEFORE I HAD TO TRAVEL, I’LL AVOID VA IN THE FUTURE AND TELL EVERYONE ELSE TO AVOID THIS AREA ALSO.

I had the same thing happen to me on I-77 south bound. I was stopped and given a ticket saying I was doing 77 in a 65. I know for certain that I was only doing 63. I was given a $115 ticket. I have also received letters from lawyers wanting to help me out. NO THANK YOU. This is such a scam and I was wondering is there anything anyone can do. I will never again go anywhere near that town or area.

I ran into this one last night(Jan. 31, 2014). Quota fill? I had my cruise control set at 70(speed limit was 70). When I saw the cop, I instinctively looked at my speedometer to check my speed. It was 73 mph. Should also mention that I was watching my speed on my GPS as well and the GPS registered exactly what the speedometer read. I think I was running downhill so it creeped up to 73 even though I had the cruise control set at 70. He told me he clocked me at 84 mph. I would have to have been crazy to go that speed on that road in the dark. Then he knocked it down to 80 "so that he wouldn't have to charge me with reckless driving". I'm from Canada so I really have no recourse but to pay the $120 fine. The costs for me to return to fight it in court combined with time off work, etc. would be way too much. This again seems like I was singled out because I was from out of state. There was another car pulled over in the same area and yet another on the other side of the highway. Glad they were "Serving and Protecting".
