Even though I have not gotten a speeding ticket there, I travel this route twice a week for work. The Emporia Police Dept. and Sheriff’s Dept. have several areas
where they hide and wait for speeders. On I-95 at the Emporia Hwy 58 exit,
they have several spots to hide there cars from the view of motorists. They also get out of their cars with a radar gun and hide behind trees if you’re speeding they will get you. It’s the same on Hwy 58 all the way to Suffolk, VA. I can’t remember a time driving this route and not seeing two or three cars pulled over. It is diffidently the city of Emporia’s revenue generator.
