I55, Exit 91, 93, Cape Girardeau Airport

Be careful, especially at the end of the month, when going on Interstate 55 either North or South of town. The Highway Patrol occassionally patrols this construction zone where MODot is replacing a bridge, however, enforcement is generally done with the Cape Girardeau City Police. It seems that near the end of the month they step up their enforcement. MODot finally moved the 50 MPH speed limit sign past the Dutchtown exit on the Southbound lanes, but the 70 MPH sign is well past the end of construction and if the city is in need of money (which they are) they will attempt to catch you past the cones where it is logical to get back to speed. Going North it is much the same situation in both direction. Be careful. This area is not a metro-area, but the City is trying to get that status, it has been argued the only reason they wish to be considered Metro is to reduce the speed limit on the Interstate.

Comments:
This is over 7-years old, in dire need of update. The construction work and speed zones are long gone, ergo no speed trap exists.
