Limon, ColoradoJun 29, 20093 Comments

Limon has altered the speed on the highway to 65 miles per hour it is the first change in speed from the State line until you get to Denver. There is very little in the area to indicate a need to slow down, only a truck stop really. We should put up a billboard just outside the city and county limits warning motorists. I wont stop in Limon for fuel again until they change the signs back this is the worst case of trying to get money back during a poor economy. If there was a danger in the area I could see the slow down but it is no different than any other exit from the highway. Shame on Limon Colorado.

Comments:
I was teased during an out of state trip for following the speed limit so closely, so you can imagine my surprise when a state highway patrolman pulled me over in Limon. None of the 4 people in my car saw the sign indicating the drop in the speed limit from 75 to 65. As I was clocked at 78 mph, that is a BIG speeding ticket! I am not pleased to be sending Colorado an additional $160, and I will not pass that way again, you can be sure. Of course, I had the option of returning the next week to go to traffic court, but as I live in Ohio that couldn't happen. This is clearly a hidden tax applied mostly to out-of-state travelers who can't do anything about it. Definitely a speed trap in my book! Now smile and pay the nice officer the money.

Nearly everywhere else on the Interstate system, reductions in the speed limit are preceeded by a notification sign "speed limit 65 mph ahead". No such sign at Limon, Colorado. I guess a bustling metropolis like Limon (population of fewer than 2000 people) needs a reduced speed limit for safety sake???

There is a 65mph speedlimit sign. I pass it almost twice a week heading to denver.. Its like 4 miles east of Limon! It's annoying cause of the fact that is on a curve and in fact, if your not paying attention you won't see it!
