Ingalls Avenue near Brentwood Street
This intersection gets patrolled by both local, and county police officers because it is an area which is not incorporated in the city of Joliet. It gets watched very heavily for both speed as well as failure to fully stop (it is only a 4-way stop) It is in the middle of a rapidly growing residential area. Late at night seems to be the officers’ favorite time to sit to the south of the intersection and watch. I travel through it every day at 10:40 pm enroute to work, and have gotten more tickets there than I would care to count. They seem to like to ticket people for rolling stops as much or more than speeding. Often time their lights are off sitting away from the intersection enough that you can’t see them until you’re in the intersection. I have actually been ticketed two days in a row there, the second time because I stopped past the line. It is a brutal intersection! The older residents nearby have nothing but time to watch and complain about traffic to the local authorities.
