Interstate 70 near Exit Number 66

Plainfield, IndianaNov 21, 20070 Comments

Interstate 70 between the Plainfield exit and Interstate 465 has been recently rebuilt, now having more lanes and exits. The speed changes from local Interstate (55 MPH) to rural (65 MPH) at the Marion and Hendricks county line. The speed limit signs are not near the county line marker and you can pass into the lower limit area and not know it. It is also confusing that exit/entrance ramps run beside Interstate 70 for long distances and their speed limits are varied but posted next to the Interstate lanes.
The Indiana State Police are resposible for this area. The newer unmarked cars (not just Crown Vics anymore) are various colors and have the emergency lights and strobes mounted inside the automobiles.
Commercial truck enforcement is also very prevelent in this area.
