I was driving from Birmingham AL on US331 into Brantley Ala, the speed limit was 45, this was at 7:14 pm. I was driving 48 mph as I was going along I come up on a school zone with the lights flashing no one was at the school so I continued driving at 48mph I figured that the lights failed to switch off. I was wrong I received a notice of violation from The Brantley Speed Safety Program (camera). The weird thing is I’m told it won’t be reported to my insurance co. and the Dept of Public Safety Division of Motor Vehicles. The kicker is you send your payment to Cleveland Ohio. This sounds awful fishy.

Literally the exact same thing happened to me! The incident happened 12/4/2015. What did you end up doing? I hate to pay to Ohio.

Same situation here. Drove thru on January 15th received a ticket via the postal service. I was doing 46 in a 45. What I don't get is if it's not a reported violation why do I have to send $80 to Cleveland Ohio? I wonder what happens if you don't pay.....

Just received a certified letter yesterday from the town of Brantley and thought what in the world is this. My citation is dated 3-5-16 at 8:34 a.m., location is the "school zone", states that I was traveling 48 mph in a 35mph zone. I have traveled this route on many occasions on my way to the beach and even though it's been a couple years since my last vacation, I have always known to mind all speed limits thru these little towns on this route. Also, keep in mind, this is a Saturday, there is NO school on Saturday. I'm thinking about fighting this and would love some feedback from anyone that could guide me on this.

Same thing happened to me on March 22 2016, I was on my way to the beach and going 55mph, i had let up off the gas right before I saw the flash of the camera, but apparently I was clocked doing 55mph. This isn't fair to anybody but especially when it's not during school or your not from Brantly and you just drive these roads once a year or twice at most.. The speed limit drops tremendously in a short distance so how is this fair to anyone esp when there was no flashing yellow lights prior to entering the school zone.

I got a school zone ticket too. Went to the beach on May 30, a Saturday. Ticket was for 48 in a 35 school zone. In my state speed zones for school are only for when school is in session. I had to google where Brantley Alabama was - found this forum on speed traps. Should I fight the ticket or just send a check to Ohio?

I recieved the same for 48 in a 35 in May when school is not in session. DO NOT PAY THIS! There is zero they can do besides report you to a collection company which will ding your credit. Which is for a non permissible cause since they ONLY get a clear picture of the tag NOT the driver. The Ohio company sent it to collections and hit my credit. I contacted the FTC and they removed the collection account and fined the Ohio company $1,000 which was forwarded to me. So thank you city of Brantley for allowing me to make money on your cash grab scheme. I laughed all the way to the bank. So anyone getting a photo ticket just ignore it and monitor your credit. If they place a collection account in your FICO score contact the FTC and it will be removed and you will get $1,000 from said Ohio company. If enough people do this they will see it as a money loser and quit the scheme.

I got the same ticket in the same place for also doing 48 in a 35 mph zone on a Saturday (07/09/2016). 48 mph seems to be a pretty common speed for tickets. They want me to send my payment to Cleveland Ohio. This doesn't seem right.

The same thing that everyone saying about school zone is true. We went thur this to Florida lights were flashing but no school was going.Thought I was ok never been to Destin so I can truely say never been thur this town. Got home got a letter with a picture of my car where I got a ticket. Yes i admit it was my car going 8 miles over speed limit but there was NO NO NO school. Tickets says wont be turned in to my record sounds odd to me. ALSO, my husband was driving car in my name so is it right to just put this in my name. I work for government and just fined this odd. No signs up about this anywhere that I seen.........Should I pay or fight this

Do not pay this! The Senate Bill the Ohio company quotes which they base their legallity on was NEVER signed into law. They have zero legal basis to enforce this cash grab. There is a pending class action in the works against Brantley and the Ohio company which should place both in a financial bind. The Senate Bill quoted died on the House floor in 2013 but they use it as their legal standpoint. Once again this cash grab is not legal in the State of Alabama so trash the notices. They are not worth the stamp it took to mail them.
