Near mile marker 42 McIntosh County I-95

Darien, GeorgiaOct 23, 20111 Comments

I was driving at 75 miles per hour per my GPS (although my speedometer said 78), and, an unmarked, heavily tinted glass, car was right on my bumper. I made a comment why didn’t he just pass? I looked in my rear view mirror again and a flood of blue lights came on. The officer said he had clocked me at approximately 90 miles per hour about a 1/4 mile back, but would call it 86 and issued me a citation. When I told him my GPS registered 78 he said "that is wrong and my instrument has just been calibrated". I will never buy anything in Darien Georgia. Also there was another car pulled over about a mile prior to this and consequently he also had a Florida tag..Coincidence??

Comments:
I just had a similar situation - I was driving at 78 mph in Darien, GA. on I-95 and was aggressively pulled-over by an officer. It was very terrifying as at first, I did not think he was after me and then he was on my tail as I was trying to make my way from the left hand lane to the right hand lane to pull over in a safe spot. He told me that I should have pulled-over sooner and that I was going 86 mph in a 70 mph area. I told him that there was no way that I was going that fast but he said he got me and the car behind me his laser gun. I asked the officer what the ticket cost is and he said to call the 800# to find out. I did that today and was told it was $286. - - - Now, I'm reading that this fee probably does not include the "Super Speeder" charge which is incurred when one goes over 85 mph! Hmmmm.....86 mph..... Is this about revenue?
