Officer parked with car facing oncoming traffic. Not really hidden, but low profile and located just past the first 50 mph sign. I should have noticed it sooner, as I normally slow down for any small town regardless of whether there is a speed limit reduction. I don’t like speeders in my neighborhood. But to avoid braking too hard I was still slowing down while passing the sign. He pulled me over, said I was going 61 in a 50. Okay, fine, but I was slowing down rapidly to 45 and would not have just blasted through the town. $185 ticket for this??!! I’ll go an entirely different route next time to avoid Fenton and certainly won’t give them any business.

I did exactly what you did. I started slowing down and he got me. It goes from 65 mph to 50 mph quick! The speed limit signs are small. I was going 63 in a 50 and it cost me $195! And no need to worry about doing business there....THERE IS NONE! However, this speed trap is why that town can afford to buy a grey Dodge Charger and a black Chevy Tahoe to conduct traffic stops!

In concurrence with the other comments Fenton is a speed trap FOR SURE! There was two issues with my ticket I received. 1. There was a car in front of me going the same speed and he did not get pulled over. Guess out of state plates garner a ticket faster than a Louisiana plate. 2. When I asked how much it was going to cost the only comment the officer made was it was up to the court and I had to CALL them in a couple days to find out what it was going to cost. This tells me if they haven't met their quota, then the ticket will be more. Like the person above, I will avoid Fenton for the remainder of my two years in this corrupt state. And with the tickets based on God knows what "chart" I am quite sure they will always afford the upgraded vehicles. Recommendation - Stay away from Fenton Louisiana.
