On Hwy 411

Fairmount, GeorgiaJan 24, 20121 Comments

Though Fairmount is an extremely tiny town, they now have two police cars waiting at one time on Hwy 411. They give the impression of a town looking to produce as much revenue as possible via tickets. No consideration is given as to whether you are trying to obey all laws; they just write tickets. Also, the speed limit sign that used to be by the IGA grocery store has been missing for a very long time, leaving us to guess that we are still allowed to increase our speed to 45mph at that point.

Comments:
I received a ticket going north pass the IGA in fairmount cause officer giving the ticket claimed speed limit was 40 mile mph north & claimed it was 45 going south on same section of road.. Well this got me to wondering how speed limit can differ from one side of road than the other side so up on doing some research I called the Georgia D.O.T. & found out they set & install all state & federal road speed limits which this section was 45mph in both directions but fairmount upon the sign gone missing had been sighting tickets for years here... Anyway found out all have to do is check with D.O.T. & they check records & install any missing speed limit signs... No more speed trap for driving over 40 at IGA now but it's sad the city started writing tickets instead of reporting the missing sign! Crooks!!!
