On Route 16 as you enter the town

Greenwood, DelawareJun 21, 20161 Comments

As you approach Greenwood, the speed drops to 35mph and approximately one block later, it drops to 25mph. You have to look for the signs because they are slightly obscured. Police officers sit to your left with the latest equipment to write you up and spit out the ticket. The interesting part is when I got pulled over, all the other cars that had been pulled over were from out of state — No Delaware tags. Maryland and Pennsylvania. This is definitely a speed trap and apparently brings in a lot of revenue for Greenwood. It will not be on my list of places to visit.

Honestly I understand your frustration. Only thing is a transition sign (with an arrow at the top and a 35 mph under it) is prior to the 35 mph sign letting everyone know the speed limit is dropping. Then approx 500 feet it's 35 mph. Another 500 feet it's 25 mph. I see the cops all the time sitting in different places but thank god they do. Chidren are always playing outside and a daycare is in that area too. I'm not trying to sound mean or rude, but signs are posted giving a good 1000 feet from the transition sign to the 25 mph sign. So that to me is enough time to slow down. I been traveling to the beaches from western Maryland and I have never had an issue here. Signs are posted and visible. Really just have to pay attention.
