Rockville Road near Willottta Street

Fairfield, CaliforniaAug 25, 20074 Comments

Highway patrol sit at the corner of Willotta Dr. and Rockville Rd. during peak trafic hours sometimes 3-4 of them with radar, it is posted at 35mph and they have been hammering people for about a year now!

Comments:
I have lived in Suisun Valley for 20+years, and I can confirm that yes, this is a speed trap. The officers are usually on Abernathy side of Wilotta, just off Rockville Road. On other occasions, I have seen them in the parking lot for Iwana Market. But it's worth it to slow down for that short 35MPH stretch!

I haven't seen them in about 6 months, probably because of sites like this, but they were extremely abusive while operating this trap. I have been a resident of Willotta Oaks for 20+ years as well and would see as many as 5 cars pulled over at one time inside the Wilotta Oaks turnout with a different officer manning each vehicle. How do they do this? They work in teams. A motorcycle cop with a radar gun sits at the corner of Suisun Valley Rd./Rockville Rd. and communicates with officers posted inside of the Willotta and/or Iwama Market turnouts. The car is then waved into Willotta by waiting officers. In the mile or so distance between these cross streets the mph changes from 45mph to 35mph without warning or reason except for a grove of trees. Drivers are often issued tickets while driving at speeds in between these limits.

The whole area is a speed trap! Especially during the summer with all the out of towners on their way to go boating/camping. The "route 40" sign throws people off too, they assume its the speed limit. I remember when a HUGE sign was posted on the back fence of the corner house @ Willotta & Rockville rd., warning drivers of the speed trap! It was great, but I guess the sheriff or somebody made them take it down....... yes, drivers beware, it`s all unclear (regarding speed limits) around there and up Rockville rd. towards green valley too.
