Route 12 , North of Utica to Barneveld

Utica, New YorkSep 08, 20102 Comments

State Troopers patrol route 12 very strict. People spending hours on the NYS thruway going 65 are a great target as they usually speed on this road.

On 12 north: After the big hill (crest) or on the way down. They usually try to get people on the other side who creep up in speed.

12 South: watch on on the hill going down.

Comments:
This is one nasty stretch of road. They have been known to have a radar operator (no car) standing on the bridge (hard to see), and several cars lined up on the On Ramp from Rt. 8. And don't think that just because you've gotten by one in the bushes, that you've got it made. I've seen as many as three in the 6 or 8 miles I generally travel. Many times 2 at a time in the turn arounds, one monitoring northbound traffic, the other southbound. Could be locals or state or both. I'm generally surprised if I don't see one on way way in or out of the city. Great revenue enhancement area.

They also falsify the radar readings. Thought I was getting on I-81. Cruise control locked in at 65, GPS confirms my speedometer is accurate. They claimed 70, impossible, I know I was doing 65 and had been for 300 miles on I-90, thieves.
