Rt. 117 in Bolton Library Parking lot

Bolton, MassachusettsFeb 27, 20112 Comments

Cruiser sits in Library Parking lot to catch drivers (Westbound) speeding up to 45 while still in the 30 MPH zone, or drivers coming out of 45 MPH zone (Eastbound) failing to slow down to 30 MPH.

The police in this town are always waiting for you. They keep 100% of the fine money thru some state agreement. So they will cut you no slack!!

Do your homework.... NO police agency gets ALL the money from speeding violations in Massachusetts. 50% goes to the municipality, 25% goes to the state and 25% goes to the county. The "agreement" you speak of was only in effect from 1993 until 1994 after the Highway Safety Unit was formed to help fund it when it first started. Instead of funneling all the $$ into the general fund, only enough to fund the cost of the unit (vehicle/manpower/etc.) was kept by the PD, the remainder went to the town general fund. That all ended in 1995 when the unit became a line item in the budget, and thus any $$ went into the general fund with NOTHING being given directly to the PD. Get your facts straight before posting mis-information.
