Rt. 9A both directions on hill approaching rt. 9

Ossining, New YorkSep 01, 20000 Comments

This road is almost Interstate-like except every few miles there is a traffic light (also some limited-access type exits) and the lanes are a bit narrower. Unrealistically low speed limit of 45 miles/hour. Approaching Ossining and rt. 9, starts to go downhill at get slightly curvy and limit drops to 40 mph. Police are frequently on both sides of the road at this stretch (wide shoulder for them to sit on, also on northbound side near bottom of hill there is a makeshift "rest area" they like to hide at), they aggressively ticket, especially late at night and at rush hours.

Traffic tends to go 50-60 down the hill, for the most part this is tolerated though my wife got a ticket for 51 in the 40 zone once. On the good side, there is usually a 1-2 year wait for your court date and the result is the reduced-charge "cattle call" of dozens of people.
