Rutherford Road

This is a tricky speedtrap! When you drive on Rutherford Road east towards Bathurst Street, shortly before you approach Bathurst (one light before the main Bathurst and Rutherford intersection) there is a church (yellow modern looking building on the south side of Rutherford).

The officers hide their car in the parking lot of the church.

You will not be able to see the police car as you’re coming towards the trap because there are tall trees, a fence, and bushes that hide the parking lot. As you enter the parking lot of the church, there is a small tree near the curb of of Rutherford. This is where they put up laser radar on the tripod in order to hide/disguise it.

Speed limit: when you drive east on Rutherford, after you pass Dufferin the speed limit is 70 km/h. Then there are a series of small downhills. At the downhill before the speedtrap the speed limit changes suddenly from 70 to 60 km/h (there will be a sign that says "Maximum 60"). This is where they plan to nail you – going xx in a 60 zone.

The police is there on regular intervals, usually in the late hours of the morning (11 AM and they stay there until 2 or 3 PM). Please note that traffic on this road is light during the time the police is hunting so it’s not uncommon to see people go over 80. This includes police cars rushing up the road in the Sobey’s plaza 🙂
