NOT A SPEED TRAP. You can plow through here as fast as you want as long as you can still stop for the reds. The cameras were installed because so many drivers weren't managing to stop.
I didn't see this thing (early morning) and came down Washington at a safe speed. My light turned yellow and although I could have hit the gas and sped through I decided to try to stop. I stopped but the front of my van was over the line by about a foot and that red light photo radar snapped my photo. How ridiculous. I had made what I thought was the safer decision to stop, even if it wasn't a perfect stop. The city will hit you either way, so I guess you might as well drive through the yellow or red. Who cares if I didn't have time to stop exactly before the painted line. I did back up a bit but that didn't change a thing.
Speed trap. I live in this area. And if one camera "doesn't get you" the "other one will"....also watch out for "when they change the bulbs and film" it flashes regardless of the speed you were going etc. We ALWAYS make SURE we GO to COURT with ANY photo radar tickets. They are all fake, and should be out-lawed... I have also seen serious rear ending "accidents" on both sides of the streets there, SE Washington and SE Stark depending on what side of the street you are on etc. Go to Cop Watch.com and get some interesting facts about "Portland Police".
