South of Muskogee on Route 69 heading north into town

Muskogee, OklahomaMar 31, 20110 Comments

A couple miles south of Muskogee there is a speed reduction sign to 65 mph. Less than a couple hundred yards further there is another sign reducing speed to 55, even though it is still very rural and you are still significantly south of town. The cops then situate themselves just ahead of the next 55 mph sign which is just as you are coming into anything you would consider to be town. You think you are in a 65 when actually you have been in a 55 for a couple of miles. Sign placement is definitely done for speed trap purposes and revenue collection to the town. Merle Haggard would be ashamed of his hometown namesake. I will never pass through Muskogee as long as I live. Fine was $150 regardless of speed exceeded. Another indication that it is just a bilking of travelers for local revenue purposes. I tried to appeal the ticket and they acted as though they had never even heard of the process. Even spoke to the City Attorney. What a waste of time. Shame on them!
