State Highway 22 (4 lane)

Clarksburg, TennesseeAug 22, 20032 Comments

The speed limit is 55 mph, coming into Clarksburg. The speed limit instantly drops to 40 mph, (on a 4 lane highway.) The 40 mph speed limit signs are place at in such a manner that you have to practically slam on your brakes, to a skid, to reduce speed from 55 mph to 40 mph. Consequently, most motorists are beyond the 40 mph speed limit sign before your speed can be reduced. The local constable is ready and waiting for this action. If you pass the 40 mph sign 1 Fort, you will recieve a citation from said constable.

Over the past 10 years, I have received 3 tickets in the Clarksburg area. My wife, a retired school teacher has also received one. The whole area is definately a speed trap. I am not able to do so, but there needs to be a sign in a field in that area warning the many visitors that travel that road. I was stopped the first time in the year 2000, and I was un-employed, and they laughed at me because I wanted to work our my fine.

This town does live on out of state plates and have set up a speed trap that is well known by most of the area (Yuma) included. I come to visit my terminally ill cousin, and they did catch a friend of mine. The barny fife was cold as a fish, and did not want to answer questions. I think it is time some people start contacting papers and mayors of surronding areas of this well long know speed trap that supports the town. I sincerely believe the speed limits drop too fast to completely slow down, so one mile over and Barny has you. Glad we could donate once and only once. Pretty bad when locals tell you about the speed trap!!!!!
