State Highway 24 near US Highway 301

Waldo, FloridaMay 20, 20081 Comments

In Waldo, FL on FL 24 eastbound just before the intersection with US 301. There is a patch of woods at a right hand curve. The speed limit abruptly falls from 55 mph ot 35 mph in less than one half mile. The police sit their car just off the road beyond the wooded area.

Where do these so called facts come from? I've been driving this route through Waldo for over 30 years. 1. nowhere in Waldo does the speed drop from 55 to 35 - never has. On 301 east (or north as we call it) on the outside of town(coming from Gainesville the speed drops from 55 -45 then 35...at least a mile and a half BEFORE the above mentioned intersection. Plus, there are all the yellow warning signs put up by AAA...and the billboards....and the spots on local news and 20/20. I have never seen a police car sitting in the area mentioned above. If they did it would be a waste of time as you are approaching a stop sign at the 301/24 junction....so if you were speeding in this location your main concern would be rear ending whoever was sitting at the stop sign.
