State Highway 95 South near State Highway 95 South
As you are coming into this dustbowl town on S.R.95 from either direction (North or South)the posted speed limit drops dramatically from 65 to 45 to 25 and the road narrows right at the top of a little hill , where guess who?, is waiting to pop you with a ticket for excessive speed ,if you are not at 25 M.P.H.

Updated as at June 2010. Hwy 95 has been improved through Searchlight with two lanes each way but be warned - the 25 mph speed limit remains in the center of town and is strongly enforced by both LVMPD and by Nevada Highway Patrol. Unmarked cars are sometimes used along Hwy 95 to apprehend unwary motorists.
Speed thru town is a crawl at 25mph, this IS a speed trap without a doubt.
I have been stopped by Nevada Hiway Patrol twice on this stretch (not in town). Once I was between 85 and 90 in a 65 zone. The officer did NOT cite me and only warned me that I should keep it below 75.
The other time was for an unsafe turn across traffic toward Laughlin. Again, only a warning to more careful.
You got extremely lucky then. The cops must have been severely "over quota" and in a rare good mood.
The whole drive from Henderson to Laughlin is one giant speed trap and huge revenue source for those towns, with the Searchlight and Boulder City areas being the worst.
