State Route Saturn Parkway near US Highway 31

Spring Hill, TennesseeApr 03, 20082 Comments

They have now resorted to sitting on the ramp from Saturn Parkway west to to US 31 both ways. They sit at the split where you go north or south where the ramp speed is 45 mph. Like always, especially at the end of the month when quotas are due! Always looking for new ways of collecting revenue!

Comments:
This speed trap is also for those southbound on 31 when leaving Spring Hill. The change from 45 (in the built up area of town) to 55 doesn't occur until you are south of the "on ramp". SHPD likes to sit off to the right of the ramp outside the southbound drivers' peripheral view and catch folks that assume the limit has already gone up to hiway speed. ANOTHER spot they like to sit is about three hundred yards further down on the right (north side of roadway) where the fenceline forms an indented pocket. They are hard to see up in there, especially during the summer and fall when the corn in that field is higher than their car.

I was pulled over last night by SHPD. He pulled out of the median on Saturn Parkway and proceeded behind me as I exited the ramp to Hwy 31 South. As I merged onto Hwy 31 South, he turned his lights on and pulled me over. He said he clocked me doing 85 mph. I travel this stretch of road at least 2 to 3 times a week so I know they watch it closely. Each time I drive on Saturn Pkwy., I set my cruise on 73 mph and on hwy 31, I set it on 57 mph. I know for a fact I was not doing 85 mph, not even close. The officer really struck a nerve with me when he told me how fast his radar showed me traveling. I probably responded a little too strong, but there was NO way I was doing 85 mph. He did not give me a ticket, but he said they had a number that they had to meet which was 16 due to the holidays. He said I was #15. He told me to consider this a Xmas gift. He also suggested that I have my speedometer checked. I WILL NOT travel this stretch of road again. This is harassment. They constantly are pulling people over through here.
