State Route South Fork Hwy near US Highway 14-16-20

Cody, WyomingSep 10, 20083 Comments

This is a "Governor’s favorite" highway and any tickets (which are very common) are doubled due to its designation. And the speed limit is lower than our normal highway speed limits. Anywhere from 45-55. Sheriff & WHP both patrol regularly.

Comments:
Speed limit on Hwy 291 (Southfork) is 50 mph. There is high deer traffic in this area. Also, the state hwy only goes for 10 miles or so, then its county road and 45 mph. There are alot of traffic accidents on this road, especially if its slick out.

I agree with Southfork.!!! I have gotten a speeding ticket on this highway. And since I am very careful to watch my 55 mph! BUT, every single day, I have people passing me between Bartlett Lane and Diamond Basin Road, they are going over 65-70 mph. There are no cops around anywhere either. We have alot of deer on this highway. We need to be careful and slow down.

there are alot of people who totally disregard this speed limit of 55 miles an hour! I think it should be patrolled more! Some snowy and icy days, there are still those who insist on passing and being dangerous !
