U.S. Hwy. 30

U.S. Hwy. 30 (Forest Park-Linnton, Linnton, Park , Forest Park ) is a notorious speedtrap in itself. The police like to set up in numerous hidden locations to get people with radar. They also will travel in the left (passing lane) at 45-50 even though the posted speed is 55, then if you pass them they will pull you over. I have been pulled over several times for speeds under 60 (you are allowed a 7 mile over leeway if the sign says speed 55). The police do not want the average citizen to know this but the only time that you can not exceed the posted speed is when the word LIMIT is included on the sign. As we all know, the police will do anything to enforce their “authority,” justified or not, so watch out for the local power!

Comments:
I dont understand some people. There is nowhere that it states you can goover the posted speed limit, especialy 7 miles an hour over. I have driven that section many thime and have never had a ticket. Not a speed trap, just enforcing the law.

I disagree. Drive past a photo radar van in a 35 MPH spot while doing 40. It will not snap your car's license plate. They are set to allow a leeway, I have always used 5 MPH as a safe leeway, but it wouldn't surprise me if it was 7. No police office expects you to be able to drive exactly at the posted limit, you'd have to stare at the speedometer every second instead of at the road and that is not safe driving.
