On the south side of Cowee Mountain (going downhill towards Franklin), there is almost always a State Trooper. Speed limit is 55 mph but the grade of the mountain will cause faster speeds. The road is staight and clear. Troopers sit at bottom of mountain just before Sanders town road. They will write a ticket….no excuses.

I totally agree with the first posted comment! I will add that toward the bottom of the hill there is also a curve. You can't see any civilization until you're already near the bottom of the long hill AND around the curve. Sitting at the bottom of the hill just inside the town are 2 cops cars with the radar on. They just sit there and write tickets as you come off the mountain, round the curve, and enter the town of Franklin. The classic SPEED TRAP!! It's outrageous and they don't care one bit. It's a revenue generator for them and they don't have to work hard at all. The NC Governor should not allow these speed traps, but does anyway. BEWARE!!!
